Ronald van der Vossen
Executive pastry chef
My name is Ronald van der Vossen, and I recently joined The Pyrmont Curaçao Beach Resort as Executive Pastry Chef. I bring more than 40 years of experience in pastry and hospitality.
My passion for pastry started very early. I started baking at home around the age of ten, and by twelve I was already spending my free time working voluntarily at a local pastry shop because I wanted to learn the craft. I was professionally trained as a pastry chef, and pastry has remained the foundation of my career ever since.
Over the years, cooking became one of my greatest personal passions. Pastry and cuisine are closely connected, but they are also two very different disciplines, with a different rhythm, mindset, and way of working. Learning from chefs has strongly influenced the way I approach pastry.
I had the privilege of working for a considerable period alongside two-Michelin-star chef Syrco Bakker and three-Michelin-star chef Sergio Herman. That experience taught me a great deal about discipline, creativity, product quality, precision, and consistency at the highest gastronomic level.
Another important chapter in my career was spending six years living and working in Seoul, South Korea, in a five-star hotel with around 420 rooms. It gave me valuable international experience and taught me how to combine quality, organization, volume, teamwork, and cultural diversity.
Hobbies and interests: Although pastry is my profession, cooking has become one of my greatest hobbies. I enjoy experimenting with savory dishes, discovering new ingredients, and learning from different cuisines and cultures.
Even when I am not working, food is never far from my mind.
